What a fun-filled, productive weekend we had! We started off Friday at Grandma and Papa's to play in the pool. I worked a little in the garden. Trying to keep up with the weeds is a full time job. Unfortunately our garden has not taken off the way it has in years past, but we are still hopeful.
Saturday was a SUPER productive day for us. We did a LOT of work getting the Airstream ready to go. Josh has been building several different things for the Airstream. He built an additional step for the bunks and worked on the arm rests. I worked on spray painting a toy box that we picked up for a shoe cabinet. I also repotted two African violets and planted some more hostas that I was gifted when someone split them. It was a buys, but very productive day. Brayden made a fun meal after he got off work with a little help from his girlfriend. He made gumbo with shrimp, sausage, and crawdads. It took quite awhile, but was VERY yummy. He is an AMAZING cook.
Sunday was a little slower, but still a great day. Josh and I went on a date day kayaking on the DuPage River. We had a great time. We put in near Naperville and kayaked back to Plainfield. It was nice weather. We saw lots of turtles, birds, and ducks. When we got home, we cooled off in the backyard before tackling some more projects. We pulled out all our wood projects, finished sanding, and then stained them. We had lots of help. I love that most of the time our projects end up being family projects without even asking. We are worn out, but it is a good worn out. Here's to another week at home with the ones I love.
