A Fun Packed Weekend - Day 79, 80, and 81

I have decided that I am going to stop keeping track of our daily numbers. We are in Phase 3 in IL for COVID-19 reopening plan. I will keep everyone informed if things change.

Well our AC installation didn't go as planned. The company we hired did not install the AC the way it was suppose to be installed (how we wanted it), so they abandoned the job after Josh talked to our sales rep. He and I were both VERY frustrated. Thankfully, the company has worked with us and will be back tomorrow to finish installation the way it was sold to us. Hopefully everything will go smoothly tomorrow because Friday was VERY frustrating.

We recovered Friday night and ordered barbecue. We had dinner in the backyard and tried to recover from bad moods. Saturday morning was a new day. Saturday was Brayden's first day back at work. He works as a cook at the Wine and Cheese Co. in downtown Plainfield. I am excited for him to have something to get out of the house, but also a little reserved with all the things going on with the pandemic still as well as the protests. It actually went really well. He wore a mask and gloves all day and was ready for a shower and a nap when he got home for sure. Josh and I decided to go down to my parents and enjoy the pool with the kids and my parents. It was a wonderful day. We came home to have dinner together after Brayden's first day back at work. Then we settled in to relax. I got a surprise text from a friend that was on a walk near our house. She and the kids ended up hanging out in the backyard for a bit and it was SO NICE. I have missed them like crazy. Then 2 of my other friends stopped by for a drink in the backyard for a bit. It is nice to be able to see one another outside and stay physically distanced.

Today we planned to kayak the DuPage River. Our neighbor graciously offered to let us borrow two of his sea kayaks that he wasn't using. We got up and took a lazy morning. I made breakfast and we started loading up. We took our neighbors two kayaks and my inflatable. We did some quick research and decided to put in at 135th St. and took out at Electric Park. It was a wonderful trip. The river was pretty low, and we didn't have to work hard on the trip at all. EVERYONE seemed to enjoy it. Emerson wants his own kayak now for Christmas. We are hoping to go again one afternoon this week. We will just have to wait and see. It was definitely a highlight of the weekend.

The evening brought us relaxing time. Ella baked the dogs cupcakes because today is Hunter's 11th birthday. She iced them with a whipped cream. She can't wait to give them to the dogs. Josh and I are watching some of our travel youtube and also planning our trip for July. One of our camping spots got cancelled so we had to find a new place to camp, but Josh actually found a great alternative for us that might turn out to be better than our original plan.

Our town saw several peaceful protests this weekend. We have had some thoughtful conversations this weekend surrounding our place in all of this. We also found some great resources to continue our learning.

I hope everyone is finding ways to recharge. Tomorrow is going to be a deep cleaning day for us, some learning, and hopefully the AC will finish getting installed.
