A good Monday - Day 48

Today was a good day. It was our last school day off before the end of the year. Today was a planning day for Plainfield, so we headed down to my parents to help plant the garden.

It was a chilly day, but felt good in the sun. The kids helped dig a hole for a new tree to be planted where they cut one down a week or so ago. They rode 4-wheelers, helped Papa burn a few things in the fire pit, and then we worked on the garden.

I had the fun of driving the big tractor to run the tiller. Ella worked on helping burn the dried grasses around the edge of the garden. Ella, Grandma, and I planted our first row of green beans. These green beans are the ONLY green beans my kids will eat; Grandma and Papa's canned green beans. They don't like store bought green beans. ;)

Micah, Ella, and Emerson also did a little shooting. They enjoy all the outdoor activities. It is nice because we can stay outside and #physicallydistanced while still spending time with Grandma and Papa. We definitely can't wait for HUGS and sleepovers though.

Before dinner, Emerson played Pokemon with his cousin Brady. It was super cute. After dinner, Josh and I sat down to do a little planning for 2021 vacations. We are looking at making a National Park road trip to California, but it also looks like we might be fitting in a rescheduled Disney trip too. Vacation planning is one of my favorites to do. We will see. This year has sure been a wait and see with so many plans, so hopefully we can still find a way to do a couple family vacations. My oldest will be going off to college after next year. :(

Speaking of Brayden, he is looking to take an online course at JJC to do a little career exploration. The course he was checking out was already full, but with a little communication with the professor, it looks like he may be able to enroll. He is pretty excited about that.

Before bedtime, I got to witness a little bedtime reading between Emerson and Daddy. I cherish this time. I love that learning happens at all hours in our house. That is one thing I like about the flexibility of homeschooling. Tonight we are hoping to see the meteor shower, but not sure it is going to happen with our cloudy skies. I am definitely not looking forward to getting up in the middle of the night either. :). Only time will tell....
