A little sunshine and some dreaming

Today started out slow. I made coffee while the kids played on electronics. They love playing online with their friends during this time off. We try to balance technology and other forms of entertainment and learning. I snuggled up under my electric blanket to journal and meal plan and organize with my coffee. Josh woke up and made lattes and we watched "Mile, Mile and a half." It was wonderful to see the beautiful scenery and dream about our days in the National Parks, which is one of our favorite things to do. We have a big 2-week road trip planned in July to visit the Big 5 in Utah. We love visiting the National Parks, so it was fun to watch this group do some hiking and backpack camping. Josh and I want to do that someday; The Muir Trail, The Appalachian Trail, or the Pacific Crest Trail. My money is on the Muir Trail.

After a relaxing morning, we took a walk in the woods. It was nice to get out and enjoy the sunshine, take the dogs for a walk, and just breathe the fresh air. We took the dogs with us. We also got to see some mallard ducks and common mergansers.

This afternoon, I tackled laundry while Josh finished building the shelves in our storage room in the basement. He also built me the box for our big van that we use for our big road trips. I was super excited to see it. I have been talking about it since we bought our big van almost 4 years ago. It is nice to get some projects done around the house. I started going through some of the boxes in our storage room. I am sure I will find lots of treasures in the upcoming days.

Today the kids have relaxed and played, hiked with us, and played with the guinea pigs. It was a good day and the start to our "shelter in place" for the next 2 weeks. Despite the chaos, fear, and uncertainty of the world around us, we are finding time together and that is important.
