Today marks Day 3 of our extended break due to COVID-19. Our family currently homeschools our youngest two, but now we are all at home. Our oldest is a Junior at our local high school. Our second is soon to be 13 and a 7th grader at our local Middle School. We currently homeschool our youngest two that are in 5th and 2nd grade. Now we are all "homeschooling" due to the schools being shut down. My thought is to share with you a little about our days to help ease your fears and help provide you with support. As you can see, we don't get our of our jammies if we don't have too. That is one my my 7th graders favorite part of being at home. That and eating whenever he wants.

It helps that they enjoy helping each other, most of the time. :). Don't get me wrong, we take lots of breaks and spend time doing other things too. Our younger two are following their typical homeschool schedule. I'll be happy to post it. We have added in a few extras here and there as there are SO MANY resources out there. We drew with Mo Willems yesterday. That is one of Emerson's favorite books. Mo Willems is featuring his doodles and teaching some doodling each day at 1pm EST. Here is the link if you are interested in joining along. https://www.kennedy-center.org/education/mo-willems/

Our middle schooler is using Khan Academy to keep his brain sharp. He is working on Math and Grammar. We hit the library before it closed for 2 weeks to grab LOTS of library books. I let the kids go wild. He is reading with his guinea pig. For writing today, he is writing an email to his favorite teacher. This was a suggestion that I saw on facebook and LOVED. We all need some encouragement during this time. He is writing about the things he loves about his teacher and why they are such a great influence and educator. We are going to email it to his teacher and cc: the principal and assistant principal. Our oldest is doing the same thing. We will also be entering the IEW writing contest, which is the homeschool writing program we use and LOVE!

That is about all for now. I'll try to update each day as well. We are getting ready to do some organizing in our basement and prepping dinner. Today it is Fish and Greens. Trying to use my fresh stuff first to get as many healthy things as possible. I'll share the recipe I am using in the food section. Have a great hump day!
