Happy Sunday. The sun is shining. That makes me happy. I can't wait for a little warmer weather. This morning I woke up BRIGHT and EARLY again to go turkey hunting. Hunting has been a family tradition since before I was born. I enjoy the family time. This morning it was turkey hunting with my Dad. Watching the sunrise has been beautiful. This morning was much warmer than yesterday, but still chilly. We listened to the turkeys gobble for several hours this morning. We never did see any tom turkeys, but we did see 2 hen turkeys. It was a nice morning for sure.
Today was a busy day for me, but not so much for the kids. They enjoyed most of the day playing online with friends. I came home from hunting and got started on dinner. I made southwest soup for dinner. It is one of the kids' favorites. It will probably be the last time I will be making soup for awhile as I am anticipating much warmer temperatures in the coming weeks. I then managed to catch a quick nap before the rest of my afternoon.
I had a zoom meeting with my student teachers. They are all handling the changes to their situations with grace. They are hopeful about the upcoming job hunt and I have been honored to help them along on their journey.
Then Brayden and I took a quick trip to see his girlfriend. We stayed in the car while Lily and her mom visited with us - 6 feet apart. : ). It was nice to be able to visit and see faces in person. It has been super hard on our teens for sure. We got the official word on Friday that Illinois is done with school for the year. Brayden has already told me he is now a senior then. I am DEFINITELY not ready for that right now. Too many emotions.

After our #physicallydistanced visit with Lily, I had a zoom call with my extended family. It was SO FUN. It was fun to be able to chat for a bit with my extended family and see how everyone was doing. We had a quick dinner and had a discovery. What was that discovery you might asked? Well, last fall, I found what I thought was a praying mantis egg case in the yard. We have hatched those in the past and released them in the yard, so it was a fair assumption. I put it in the fridge for the winter and pulled it out a few weeks ago. We have been waiting for them to hatch. Well tonight the egg case hatched. It was QUITE a surprise. check out the picture! Can you tell us what it is?
