A Week of Preparations

This week was the start of preparations for both a weekend at Mom and Dad's for the 4th of July weekend and our upcoming trip to the National Parks. Ella started the week off making some treats for the upcoming weekend. The kids love all the fun treats that are usually at the family reunion. Monday Ella made oreo balls that are usually made by cousin Jenna. She even made some with golden oreos for Emerson because he isn't fond of chocolate. We also did our normal school work, some laundry, and a little cleaning.

Tuesday Ella got to go horseback riding again. She has LOVED getting back on the saddle. She is riding with one of our former 4-H members. She is having so much fun and learning so much. She also LOVES helping out at the farm. She is working us hard at getting her a horse. That is quite an endeavor, so we are holding off with lessons for now.

Wednesday I went grocery shopping for all our weekend food. Mom and I planned out the menu. My brother and sister are coming up. It is going to be a much smaller get together this weekend. It is the only way we felt like we could be safe. I also decided to tackle sourdough bread. I have made several loaves using different recipes trying to find the right one. This one turned out great. It has a very crusty crust, but is yummy.

Thursday we packed and loaded up to take the Airstream. Josh is anxious to try out the solar and generator and all the new things he has been installing on the Airstream. The kids did their jobs to get us all hooked up and ready to go. I loaded all the food in the Airstream fridge which was super helpful. We got down to Mom and Dad's about 5pm. I put dinner in the Instant Pot and we got all set up. After dinner, Brayden and I took Ella down the road to do her horseback riding. She loves spending time riding and with Angie. Tamara and Cory got here about 9pm. The kids went for a night swim before turning in to the tents and little house in the backyard. They are looking forward to a pool filled weekend.
