Today was another teaching day for me. It started bright and early. But before that, let me tell you about my night last night. I realized the garbage and recycling weren't down at the road at 10:40pm, so off I went to take care of that. On my way back to the house, I noticed the glass window in the trunk of the jeep was open, so I shut that. Then saw the interior of my car lights were on. Took me a minute to get them all off. The kids had apparently gotten things out of vehicles, but didn't turn off lights or close trunks. I went to bed around 11pm. Emerson came in because he couldn't sleep around 4am. He went back to his bed to try to sleep. Then the dog threw up in our bedroom; cleaned that up. Then Emerson came back to our bed at 5am because he still couldn't sleep. I got up at 5:30am to start my online teaching. It was quite a night. After teaching, I did crawl back into bed for an hour before we all got up and began our day.
Brayden had his first AP test today. Because it was also a remote learning planning day, we planned to leave the house, so Brayden could have some peace and quiet. Micah, Ella, Emerson, and I went down to Mom and Dad's to work on the garden. Mom and I were also going to go to the flower/vegetable greenhouse.
As soon as we got to my parents, Mom and I left for Woldhuis greenhouse. As soon as we pulled in, we were both super disappointed. The parking lot was almost the most FULL I had ever seen it. Today is Monday and it was 48 degrees. I was NOT expecting it to be that busy. Needless to say, we skipped it because we did not want to fight crowds. We are hoping to be able to head back over early tomorrow morning and avoid the crowds.
We came back to Mom and Dad's house to work on the garden. It has felt SO good to get the garden ready. I don't think that I have ever worked in the garden though in a long sleeve t-shirt, sweatshirt, the outer part of my winter jacket, gloves, and an ear band. When the sun came out it felt warm, but otherwise, it was quite chilly. Today we cleaned up the raspberry and strawberry patch that had gotten out of control. We got it all tilled up and cleaned up before we started planting. We planted another row of green beans, three rows of swiss chard, and a row of lettuce. We also planted cucumbers, butternut squash and zucchini. I am super excited to see it all start sprouting. Hopefully the coming rain and warmer weather will show sprouts soon.
Brayden's AP test went without a hitch. He has one down and 3 more to go. One more this week and 2 next week. I know he will be happy when they are all done. We came home to chili on the stove. I took it out to thaw this morning and Josh turned it on when we were on the way home. It was nice to have dinner ready when we got home. Ella was also super excited to see Flat White the chicken still doing good. She gave it another warm soak and lots of loving. She is definitely taking as much care of it as she can. I will admit I soaked in the bathtub after dinner. Now Josh and I are watching The Voice for entertainment. We both enjoy the music and that we don't have to pay super close attention. :). Happy Monday everyone. Enjoy our pictures.
