Today is Micah's 13th Birthday. Another kiddo birthday in quarantine. They are handling it so well, but I know it is disappointing. Tonight at dinner, we went around the table to talked about what we want to do as soon as this is over. The kids ALL wanted to spend time with friends. They miss those connections for sure. Josh wanted to go on date night. I want to go on our family vacations. It was nice to think about what we wanted to do when this was over.

I started this morning teaching bright and early. One of my students was excited to have me pass on her birthday message to Micah. It is so fun to have the connection to families in China. It is amazing how we are all so very similar. I was so thankful when my hubby brought me down a latte as I was finishing teaching. I can always smell the coffee when he is making it and it smells so good. Today he surprised me with one. It was YUMMY! When I was finished teaching at 8am, my crew was STILL sleeping. They are definitely enjoying sleeping in.

I decided to stay up this morning and start Micah's birthday breakfast. His request was chocolate chip waffles. I have enjoyed being able to spoil them when I can. He topped his waffle off with whipped cream, of course! We then started our morning with a little snuggle time on the couch and watched a show together. We also attended Michelle Obama's live read aloud of "The Gruffalo." That was fun. Today was a Teacher Institute day for Plainfield, but Brayden still had some schoolwork to do and Ella and Emerson also did a little of their schoolwork. Micah had the day off, but was a good big brother and helped Emerson. I hopped on the treadmill and got my workout done. I made a commitment to myself to workout 5 days a week and log my food. Today is the beginning of my week 2. I am proud of myself for sticking with it. The kids relaxed a little this afternoon. Ella helped me get started on Micah's cake. He requested a cake with cherry. So we made a marbled cake with cherry pie filling. Then we whipped up homemade whipped cream for the frosting.
His request for dinner was Red Robin. It was delivered and even arrived 15 minutes early. We enjoyed family dinner. Then Josh had a virtual board meeting. While he "attended" his board meeting from the Airstream, we watched Spider-Man-Far From Home at Micah's request. It was a super fun movie. Here a few oldies, but goodies to celebrate Micah's birthday.
After the movie and board meeting, we celebrated with Micah's cake and presents. I am hoping we made today special for our VERY special young man. I couldn't be more proud of the person he is. Happy birthday to a boy that melts my heart. How can it be 13?!? I look forward to watching him continue to grow in character. He is kind, generous, tender hearted, and intelligent. He has such an interesting brain. I love watching him figure things out. I love his willingness to be an amazing friend and help others. I know today wasn’t the day he wished for, but I hope we made you feel special today the way you make others feel special. Happy 13th Quarantined Birthday to our Micah Man!
