Happy Mother's Day - Day 54

Today is Mother's Day. Unfortunately the weather wasn't super cooperative today. It was rainy, overcast, and cool, but it was a good day none the less.

I made a yummy breakfast skillet for us for brunch. It was a new recipe that I tried and it was very good. I will definitely be making that one again. The kiddos and Josh surprised me with a homemade card and a gift certificate for plants and flowers and also a gift certificate for new yoga attire. It was a super nice surprise.

After brunch, we ran down to say hi and surprise my mom for Mother's Day. I am so thankful that we can still see them and that they are close enough for us to go for a short visit. We LOVED seeing all the birds at the feeders at my parents. We saw Baltimore Orioles, Scarlet Tanagers, Summer Tanagers, Indigo Buntings, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, wrens, hummingbirds, and many others. It was fun. Brayden also got to shoot his new muzzleloader. He was super excited. He got it for Christmas, but this was the first time he has had a chance to try it out. On the way home, we drove by a pair of nesting swans to see if they had their babies, but they had not yet. I will be checking on them in the coming weeks. I would love to see baby swans.

When I got home, I found a bunch of tulips and a card from my dear friend, Christina. It was super sweet. For dinner tonight, I made baked chicken and vegetables. Dinner was a yummy, and I enjoyed spending time with my kiddos and also seeing my mama. While I made dinner, Josh put together our new electronics charging station from an old bread box. I am super excited to have all the electronics tucked away while they are charging.

At dinner tonight, we noticed one of our chickens behaving differently. After a quick investigation, we realized she was egg bound. We don't have good luck trying to get egg bound chickens better, but we try. After dinner, Ella soaked the chicken in a warm bath. We didn't have an epsom salt to add in, but we did our best with what we had. The chicken is now sleeping in the dog kennel in Ella's room to get some rest. Hopefully she will be able to lay an egg very soon to be able to pass this egg. Otherwise, unfortunately they don't usually live 24 hours. :(. I am proud of how much Ella helps animals. She is an amazing animal mama. She is very compassionate. She has never wavered from wanting to be a veterinarian. While Ella helped the chicken, I noticed a HUGE mound of laundry after I just did 4 loads Friday and Saturday. I am not sure where it all came from, but it was time to throw it in the washer. LOL. Just another day at the Rulands. I hope everyone enjoyed their day. Happy Mother's Day!
