Friday we decided to head to Grandma and Papa's to beat the heat. The pool always is a good idea. We also worked in the garden for a bit, but it was definitely hot. The pool was refreshing and I was able to get in my 30 minute swim too. The kids ended up staying the night at Grandma and Papa's for the weekend. They have loved being able to do that again. It helps that they spend most of their time outside and they still sleep in the basement. We are still keeping our distance, but it is SO nice to be able to see them. Josh and I went out for a bit Friday night. Many places were still too crowded for our taste, but we were able to find an outside table WAY away from others at the Wine and Cheese Company to enjoy a glass of wine together. That felt really nice.
Brayden had to work Saturday, so Josh and I took care of some errands that were needed. He was able to return something that he needed to return since the beginning of the shut down. We are are also trying to get stuff in order in the Airstream for our trip in July. After work, we took Brayden to get ice cream. It is nice to be able to do something fun once in awhile. We also watched Knives Out just the 3 of us. I was glad that Brayden stayed up to watch with us.
Sunday brought us Father's Day. I am so blessed to have my Dad in my life and so involved in my kiddos lives. We headed down to spend the afternoon with him and hang out at the pool. We cooked out outside, before heading home to celebrate Josh. Josh wanted to hang out in the backyard and have a fire. We skipped the fire because it was so humid and the thunder was rumbling. Josh was able to get a nap in his hammock in the backyard. That is one of his favorites, so hopefully that made his Father's Day. If I could put into words the feelings our kiddos have about their Dad, I would need to be poet. For me, it is in all the special conversations and quiet moments. I hope everyone found ways to honor those special men in your life, whomever they may be. Happy Father's Day!
