Today we had a relaxing and productive day, which was wonderful. It started off making crepes, which is our kids' favorite weekend breakfast. it is a special one that we don't do very often, but is always special. Joshua and I were able to relax and have some coffee before tackling some projects.
Josh started tackling projects in our airstream. We LOVE to take road trips and travel to the National Parks, so Josh has been adding some features to our Airsteam that make it more useable for our family. He built bunkbeds as soon as we started our remodel. So this weekend he finished building drawers underneath for each of the kids. He also made a template for an armrest for our futon up front which also serves as our queen bed. It is starting to look amazing and feel more like home. While Josh was out working, Brayden joined in on the fun. He built a blaster today. He drew it on wood, cut it out, and then painted it. It was fun to see him being creative.
While the boys were being creative in the garage, I tackled going through the massive amount of junk from our storage room. It was wonderful to get something accomplished, AND Ella and I had a ball looking at old notes and photos. We even found some fun photos from high school; sports, dances, and school pictures. She had fun going through my collection of Precious Moments. Why do we collect things again??? It was a wonderful distraction from all the stress of life right now. It was also nice to know we had time to finish this project because we weren't going anywhere anytime soon. There is a silver lining to this "shelter in place."
For dinner tonight, we made the family favorite, spaghetti. I made zucchini noodles for Josh and I. I had some freezer burnt strawberries that I tried my hand at turning into a strawberry mousse. It may not be perfect, but I like trying to use things and not waste them. I hope everyone is finding the silver lining in these cloudy days. The snow that we had looked pretty, but I will be excited for the sunshine and warmer weather that I hope is sure to come soon.
