I think sunshine is my reprieve from the chaos. No I know the sunshine is my reprieve. The last two days have been life giving which is good, because I needed a reset. I have filled in more on my calendar to keep me accountable. I like being able to check things off.
Remote learning is settling in to our new routine. It actually seems like everyone is finding a rhythm. I am proud of everyone's attitudes and worth ethic. We spent lots of learning and playing time outside together. Emerson loved getting a little bit of Dad's help while Dad was taking a quick break. We are soaking up all the sun because the weather report for the next 2 weeks isn't fantastic. :(. I am going to miss the sun and warm weather for sure. For recess, we had a contest to see who could swing the highest on our swingset. I am super glad we have a pretty heavy duty component playground. It has 4 swings and has no problems with adults swinging on it. It was a contest between Micah, myself, Ella and Emerson. I love swinging and it was fun to take the time to do it with them.
After schoolwork, we played for awhile before dinner. Ella even broke out her Easy Bake Oven and made a berry dessert. Dinner was hamburgers on the grill. I am not giving up on the warm weather until I have to. I am looking for ways to help make Emerson's birthday as special as possible during this time.
Tonight is family movie night. I am trying to make sure we take time for our family again too. We are incorporating game night and movie night periodically throughout the week. This week is Emerson's 8th birthday too, so we are making sure to have lots of time to celebrate him. It is hard to turn 8 during a pandemic with no party, no friends, and no extended family. Brayden and I are going to work on making him a fun cake tomorrow. He wants a volcano that actually erupts. Tomorrow that will be my mission.
For tonight, it is snuggles on the couch and a family movie.
