What a day! - Day 50

Today started off as an ordinary stay at home, remote learning day. I taught 4 classes to my students in China. They are still not back to school yet either. Then I curled up with Emerson and took a short nap before we started our day.

We worked through our learning this morning and then did some fun things. Emerson pulled out the paint that we had at home and painted his decorative birdhouse. That was over an hour of entertainment. Micah got the yards mowed considering we had a decent day without rain. I got my workout in this afternoon too.

Then as we were prepping dinner, Brayden and I mixed up a batch of sourdough pretzels. We got some starter from a friend yesterday, so after I fed it last night it was ready to go today. This was our first try at pretzels. As we were in the process, Micah spotted two geese and a whole gaggle of goslings. Then we noticed the neighbors running up our driveway. They were trying to "herd" the geese away from Route 59 and toward the river. We all went out to help. After about a half an hour, we got them about a 1/2 mile away from the busy roads and to the river. The kids said it was the best afternoon ever. We came home, had dinner, and then we finished our pretzels. It was a fun after dinner activity. They might not be the prettiest, but they were yummy. I am sure we will have plenty more chances to tweak our recipe.

It was a good day. A little excitement was lots of fun for our afternoon. I am also excited because I ordered some acrylic paints for us with canvases so we can do some painting together. I have always loved painting, so I look forward to doing that with the kids. I hope everyone is looking for the joy in the small things.
